The Ubud palace was built during the lordship of the late Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel (1800-1823), and is well-kept by his successive heirs.

The kebaya, worn by women for all religious ceremonies and weddings, comprises a long, fitted blouse made either of semi-transparent lace with a corset worn underneath, or of a sheer cotton decoratively embroidered. This is worn over an ankle-length kain (a long, wide rectangular length of fabric, tied at the waist) or a sarong (a rectangle of fabric with the ends sewn together to form a tube), often with high-heeled sandals.

Hair is sleekly pulled back, flowers are worn in the hair, and the finishing touch is a sash that’s fixed around the waist. Different traditions dictate how the sarong and sash should be tied.

Different kinds of fabric indicate the wealth and status of the wearer. Batik is the most popular for sarongs for both men and women, but ikat is also worn. Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency. Promoted as an arts and culture centre, it has developed a large tourism industry.

Ubud has a population of about 30,000 people. It can be difficult for visitors to distinguish the town itself from the 13 villages that surround it. The area surrounding the town is made up of small farms, rice paddies, and dense forest.

One of the famouse destination is Ubud Art Market (Pasar Ubud). The Ubud Art Market, locally referred to as 'Pasar Seni Ubud' is located opposite the the Puri Saren Royal Ubud Palace and is open daily. Here you can find beautiful silk scarves, lightweight shirts, handmade woven bags, baskets or hats; statues, kites and many other hand-crafted goods.

Compared to art markets in Bali’s other main tourism destinations such as Kuta, the Ubud Art Market can be considered to feature higher quality items and a larger mixture. Although beach cloths and shirts printer with “Bali” on them, and ikat woven skirts, Balinese style paintings, woodcarvings and woven baskets can be found almost everywhere on the island, items ranging from quadruple-coloured bohemian skirts of satin, Moroccan-style oil lamps, quilt-stitched batik camisoles and brass Buddha statuettes, are somewhat the staple, typical Ubud Art Market curios.

The market is open daily from 06:00Am to 06:00 Pm, and some of the stalls are even open until late at night. The market is divided into two main allotments. The western block is the main art market, and an eastern block is a traditional market serving daily groceries and necessities.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BaliSemara
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13118719770117363309noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1652202548559983070.post-44438587735091929562017-12-19T23:26:00.000-08:002017-12-19T23:26:48.151-08:00Gitgit Water Fall ( git-git )

Salak is one of popular fruit in Bali, Salak is a type of palm fruit commonly eaten. He is also known as sisik ular. In English is called bark or snake fruit, while its scientific name is Salacca zalacca. This fruit is called snake fruit because its skin is similar to snake scales.

At a morning market in Bali, the usual gaudy suspects – papayas, mangos, dragon fruit and heaps of rancid-smelling durians - are on display. For Western visitors seeking culinary novelty, however, the most enticing fruit likely will not be the biggest or the brightest, but a humble, shiny brown offering called the salak. For the uninitiated, this fleshy, spongey morsel offers a perfumed cocktail of bright flavors, with hints of pineapple, citrus, honey and possibly even soap.

In Indonesia, salaks are as common as apples or oranges in the U.S. Also called snakefruit, this strawberry-sized, fig-shaped fruit comes encased in vivid, nutty-brown scales, not unlike that of a cobra or python. Heaps of salaks turn up daily at countless local markets, while touristy hotels offer them up in breakfast buffet lines as examples of typical island fare. The odd but ubiquitous morsels can be boiled with sugar into a sweet spread, pickled, vacuum dried and fried into chips or paired with other fruits and nuts, but locals prefer them best raw and straight off the tree.

Around 30 types of snakefruits grow throughout their native Indonesia, but the islands of Bali and Java vie for the best salak around. Naturally, locals tend to swear by their own island fruit’s superiority, but for foreigners all bets are off, and preference is simply a matter of taste. The Javanese variety, or salak pondoh, is the more obnoxiously aromatic of the two varieties. This intense fruit walks a fine line of ripeness that is so volatile that it will often become overripe and sweaty even before it reaches maturation.

In Bali, salak bali delivers a crunchy, starchy experience that conjures associations with watery pineapple and lemon. One strain of extra small, extra sweet salak bali called gula pasir (“sand sugar”), fetches the highest price on the island, ranging from 75 cents to $1.50 per pound, depending on the season. These little morsels also ferment into salak wine, a sweet, dry concoction of honey-gold that contains 13.5 percent alcohol. Family-owned wineries chop the mature fruits and pack them into containers to brew with sugars and yeast for two weeks. From there, they press the wine to remove sediments, a process that takes about six months. Around 9 pounds of fruit make one bottle of wine that sells for $10, so salak farmers who stick to the bottle are able to spin a better profit than those like Monsaro who sell their fruits fresh off the bush.
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BaliSemara
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00741118609591265073noreply@blogger.com0Bali, Indonesia-8.4095178 115.18891600000006-9.4146568 113.89802250000007 -7.4043788 116.47980950000006tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1652202548559983070.post-14818768755209741732017-12-19T23:19:00.000-08:002017-12-19T23:19:12.203-08:00Fruit : Manggis (Mangosteen)

One of the sweet fruit is the Purple fruit Balinese called it Manggis, its seasonal fruit and easy you can find at traditional market in Bali or at super market as well.

The purple mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana), known simply as mangosteen, is a tropical evergreen tree believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands[citation needed] and the Moluccas[citation needed] of Indonesia. It grows mainly in Southeast Asia, southwest India and other tropical areas such as Puerto Rico and Florida, where the tree has been introduced.

The tree grows from 6 to 25 m (19.7 to 82.0 ft) tall. The fruit of the mangosteen is sweet and tangy, juicy, somewhat fibrous, with fluid-filled vesicles (like the flesh of citrus fruits), with an inedible, deep reddish-purple colored rind (exocarp) when ripe. In each fruit, the fragrant edible flesh that surrounds each seed is botanically endocarp, i.e., the inner layer of the ovary. Seeds are almond-shaped and sized.

The fruit is round, dark purple to reddish purple, smooth and about 1 1/3 to 3 inches in diameter. The flesh is snow white, juicy and soft, some may not contain seed. It is acclaimed for its luscious, delectable, slightly acidic flavor. It is called the “queen of tropical fruit.”
Bali is a unique island, that will a attracting people live in the island. Do you know Balinese people they made their house with a state like Feng Sui in Chinese rule, but traditional house of Bali also has its own rules on the procedures, layout, and layout of the house to be occupied and holy buildings in Bali, with various terms and rules derived of the Vedic scriptures. The rule is called Asta Kosala Kosali.

Asta Kosala Kosali is the procedure of placing land for shelter and holy buildings. based on the anatomy of the homeowner's body. Uniquely, the benchmark measurement is based on the size of the homeowner's body so that the size of the house in accordance with the homeowner. The unit of measure is not in meters but Amusti (size or dimension for the fist size of the hand with the thumb facing up), Hasta (the size of an adult human hand span from the wrist of the middle of the hand to the open middle finger), Depa (the size used between two hand spans stretched from left to right) and several other units of measure.

The philosophy contained in Asta Kosala Kosali is the awakening of harmony and dynamism in life when achieved a peaceful and harmonious relationship between three aspects or the so-called Tri Hita Karana. Aspects that include Tri Hita Kirana are pawongan (human or homeowner), palemahan (location or environment where the house is built) and parahyangan (spiritual). This philosophy describes the formation of a synergistic relationship between man and his God, man with his fellow man, and man with nature. Asta Kosala Kosali became the main benchmark of the corner and direction of the building inside the traditional house of Bali. The north-east angle is a sacred area or a good area so the temple is placed at this angle, while the south-western corner is considered lower or the bad area so that the kitchen position is placed at this angle.

In addition to the layout, the construction of the building on the traditional house of Bali is also based on the concept of Hindu religion called Tri Angga. Tri Angga is a hierarchy or tier consisting of Nista, Madya and Utama. Nista reflects the lowest hierarchy of a level shown through the foundation of the building or the foundation of the building as the support of the building above it. The material is made of brick or stone mounted neatly arranged in accordance with the dimensions of space to be built. Nista also reflects the underworld, nature of demons or lust. Madya reflects the center of the building shown in the form of walls, windows and doors. Madya also reflects the strata of man or human nature. While the Main reflects the symbol of the upper building shown in the form of the roof of the house. They believe that the upper part is the most sacred place in the house and is described as the dwelling place of their ancestral deity or deity. The material used in Balinese traditional house is the roof of fibers and reeds.
Visiting the Rambut Siwi Temple is cheap and a very beautiful way to spend part of your day in this area, particularly at sunset when it is at its most beautiful. The Rambut Siwi Temple is a far less crowded alternative to the Tanah Lot temple that is the most visited temple in Bali and the most Photographed of all the places in Bali. However you have to be willing to make the longer journey to enjoy the Rambut Siwi Temple\'s serenity.

Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest is easily regarded as the island’s ‘other monkey forest’ after the most prominent and often visited Ubud Monkey Forest with its band of monkeys. Kedaton is rather off the beaten track as it is located quite far from the main tourist destinations of the Island.

Alas Kedaton names comes from Alas, meaning "forest" and Kedaton meaning "kingdom". The area of Alas Kedaton is historically located between the mengwi, Tabanan and Badung kingdoms. Thus theoretically, it should be considered as part of Mengwi, yet in reality the Tabanan royal family has developed most influence over this temple.

Inside temple was built by rhe Hindu high priest, Mpu Kuturan, to unify the island's Hindu sects, merging them into the Balinese Hinduism we know today. The high priest's concept allowed anyone from any caste or sect to offer their prayer at the Alas Kedaton Temple.

The balinese long-tail macaques are considered sacred. So are the hoards of flying foxes that zoom though the misty foorest lofts.
